Gaylord Palms announces ‘Christmas Around the World’ as this year’s theme for ICE!

It’s that time of year again.  Ready or not, Christmas is upon us!  Gaylord Palms is getting the ball rolling for the season and just announced this year’s theme for their annual event, ICE!.

Everything announced at D23 that’s coming to Walt Disney World

This past weekend at D23, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Bob Chapek announced quite a bit that was coming to the parks for the next several years. Disneyland is getting new lands – Pixar Pier and Marvel land (hinted at) – a new Pixar event, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge of course, and even Cars Land is getting a nice Halloween themed overlay for the holiday.

Disneyland Paris will be getting a new resort, Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel, and the Disney Cruise Line is getting  not just the two already announced new ships, but three new ships!  Plus, a brand new stage show based on the live-action Beauty and the Beast film.  But what’s coming to Walt Disney World?  Plenty of brand new things where we can break it down for you by category! Two new modes of transportation coming to Walt Disney World, Disney Skyliner and Minnie Vans

Confirmed by Bob Chapek at D23, the brand new gondola system is happening! The Disney Skyliner will soon be transporting guests via sky from Disney’s Hollywood Studios all the way to Epcot and connecting the Disney resorts in between.

Magic Kingdom getting its very own Broadway style theater!

It’s finally happening! Walt Disney World, more specifically the Magic Kingdom is getting a Broadway style theater and it’s coming straight to Main Street, U.S.A.

The new theater will be based on the iconic Willis Wood theater from 1920’s Kansas City where Walt lived after he left Marceline.

Toy Story Land opening Summer 2018, New concept art revealed

Construction on Toy Story Land is moving along mighty fast so we all knew it was coming, and now it’s been confirmed by Bob Chapek himself at D23.  The new land for Disney’s Hollywood Studios will open Summer 2018.

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway replacing The Great Movie Ride

It’s been rumored for months and now it’s finally confirmed.  Disney’s Hollywood Studios is getting another E-Ticket attraction, but this time, one has to go away.  The new attraction is named Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway and will feature, you guessed it, Mickey and Minnie Mouse!

Shark Swim and other add-ons coming to Discovery Cove

Two new add-on experiences are coming to SeaWorld’s Discovery Cove where guests will be able to swim with sharks and stingrays!

New changes coming to Disney’s Yacht Club Resort with the Ale & Compass Restaurant, Captain’s Grille not returning

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is getting new changes to its lobby bar & lounge, as well Captain’s Grille, which will both open this October as The Ale & Compass Restaurant.

The new Ale & Compass concept will completely transform the interior of the bar & loiunge and expand it to 58 seats, while offering a new menu of classic cocktails and appetizers.

Batgirl film to be written, directed, and produced by Joss Whedon

Premiere Of Marvel Studios' "Marvel's The Avengers" - Arrivals

That’s right! You read correctly. Joss Whedon, director of The Avengers and The Avengers: Age of Ultron, is joining the DC Comics side of film to create a Batgirl solo film for the DC Extended Universe. This could be a big win for DC.

So the next question is, which incarnation of Batgirl are they planning to use?  Well, according to EW, DC and Whedon will be adapting from the “New 52” comics version of the Barbara Gordon/Batgirl character as a starting point.
