The year is full of all sorts of different seasons of movies. From Oscar season, to the holiday season, and even late fall season which is usually full of films gear towards teenagers.  But the biggest season of all is the summer blockbuster season which used to not kick off until Memorial Day weekend, but has since expanded to the beginning of May.  And with May just around the corner, the summer blockbusters are about to begin next week with Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol 2.

Last year was sort of a slow year for movies.  We had a few really good ones, but few and far between.  But this year, the summer seems jam packed with sequels, R-rated Continue reading “Chris’ Picks – Top 20 Countdown of my most anticipated Summer Blockbusters”

Trailer for Syfy’s Krypton series arrives, and it is intriguing to say the least

Syfy gave us our first look at their new series, Krypton, today with its brand new trailer and I have to say, its very intriguing.  When it was first announced, I wasn’t quite sure what to think, especially since it was being produced on Syfy.  But, while DC’s films tend to be inconsistent, we can’t deny their shows are generally on the strong side.  Check out the trailer below.  Continue reading “Trailer for Syfy’s Krypton series arrives, and it is intriguing to say the least”

Dwayne Johnson to film Disney’s Jungle Cruise

It worked for Pirates of the Caribbean and it could work for the Jungle Cruise! According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney has officially green lit Dwayne Johnson’s Jungle Cruise project, which has been in development hell with Johnson attached since 2015.

MV5BMTkyNDQ3NzAxM15BMl5BanBnXkFtZTgwODIwMTQ0NTE@._V1_UX214_CR0,0,214,317_AL_ Since it’s initial proposal, the script has gone through multiple drafts, but according to reports, it is much stronger now and to Johnson’s liking.  Thanks to this, the project is officially moving forward and Johnson has fit it into his busy filming schedule.  Johnson just completed Fighting with My Family and will go on to shooting Rampage later this spring, followed by Skyscraper near the end of the year.  Then after a short break, Johnson is scheduled to begin production on Jungle Cruise in the spring of 2018.

Currently, there no director is attached.  But Johnson will star in the film, as well as produce it alongside Dany Garcia, the co-CEO of Johnson’s production company, Seven Bucks Productions.  Current productions of 2017 alone include Baywatch, Ballers, and the upcoming sequel Jumanji.

Johnson’s frequent collaborator, Beau Flynn, is also in negotiations to produce the film via Flynn Picture Co.

Personally, I’m stoked for this film.  If done correctly, I think this will be an easy knock out for Disney.  I hope it’s super campy, corny, and I honestly can’t see anyone else more perfect than Dwayne Johnson helming this film.  I’ve never seen him in anything I haven’t liked, and I couldn’t be more excited for his Baywatch film this summer.  He’s perfect for this humor (if they take it the comedic route).  But at the same time, I suppose they could make it a serious, action film, but I hope not!!  Either way, if the film is successful, imagine how many sequels we could get.

tok728292largeIf this film comes to fruition, it will be the seventh Disney film based on a pre-existing attraction: Mission to Mars, The Country Bears, The Haunted Mansion, Tower of Terror, Tomorrowland, and of course, the Pirates of the Caribbean series.

Dwayne Johnson has three big blockbusters being released in 2017.  Fate of the Furious opens this Friday, April 14, marking the 8th installment of the Fast and Furious franchise.  Then, Baywatch opens May 26th, and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle on December 20th.

Mission: Impossible 6 has started filming, Cruise trained for an entire year for one sequence

Tom-Cruise-profilLove him or hate him, you can’t deny Tom Cruise is truly one of the last true action heroes of Hollywood.  Every big action movie he does, not only does he always push to do his own stunts, but he makes sure his films use as little CGI as possible.  A prime example of this is the upcoming Top Gun sequel, a film which could easily use CGI for all of its flying sequences, but thanks to Cruise, we’ll be seeing real live jets used, just like we did in the 1986 film!  Tom Cruise, you the real MVP.  Continue reading “Mission: Impossible 6 has started filming, Cruise trained for an entire year for one sequence”

Shia LaBeouf’s new movie earned $26 in the U.K.

Shia LaBeouf’s new movie, ‘Man Down’, didn’t have the best opening to say the least.

Shia LaBeouf‘s new film Man Down will end it’s week-long run in the United Kingdom after extremely dismal sales.

The film—which follows the actor as a U.S. soldier returning home from Afghanistan who is suffering from PTSD—sold one, single ticket during it’s opening day in the U.K. In all fairness, it only opened in one theater (a branch of the Reel Cinema chain in the town of Burnley) and has only been shown once a day.
