You read correctly! Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas is finally getting a sequel, just not an animated one. Apparently, the publishing company Tokyopop has been granted the rights to write a comic book sequel to the classic stop-motion animated film.
The new comic book series will be titled Nightmare Before Christmas: Zero’s Journey and will focus on Jack Skellington’s right hand companion, Zero. The stories will be about his adventures after getting lost in Christmas Town!
The stories will be written by DJ Milky and Studio DICE will provide the artwork. In the past, Tokyopop did put out a version of the original film as a comic. This series will differ from Tokyopop’s normal style. The Nightmare comics will be full-color single issues. The stories will then be collected into full color trade paperbacks. There will also be a black and white “pocket-sized” manga volume which will be released at the same time.
Nightmare Before Christmas: Zero’s Journey will be released spring 2018.
I don’t know about you, but this sounds like an incredibly cute comic book. Can’t wait to see them on the shelves! Thanks for reading. Be sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for all of your geeky needs!
