It’s that time of year again. Ready or not, Christmas is upon us! Gaylord Palms is getting the ball rolling for the season and just announced this year’s theme for their annual event, ICE!.
In celebration of the 15th anniversary of ICE!, this year’s event theme will be Christmas Around the World. The ice sculptures will represent a variety of flags around the world, a two story slide, Santa’s workshop, and a traditional Nativity scene. The new Guardians of the Galaxy ride is hard to miss. You can see it from miles away. What once was a dark, gloomy hotel tower now stands in it’s place this wildly colorful building. The outside of the ride doesn’t have much theming to look at. The outside queue has very few details besides a few hidden pieces such as Mantis’ wanted poster and a hatch on the ground with the Avengers insignia, teasing at the future Marvel Land. On Disneyland’s 62nd birthday, Fantasmic! returned to Tom Sawyer’s island. They had two preview shows the night before for D23 guests, but it officially premiered back on that Monday.
The show is as great as I remember. As Mickey Mouse showed up and the music & lights started going, it was as if I was transported back to being a child, camping out against the rails for hours just to watch the show. This past weekend at D23, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Bob Chapek announced quite a bit that was coming to the parks for the next several years. Disneyland is getting new lands – Pixar Pier and Marvel land (hinted at) – a new Pixar event, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge of course, and even Cars Land is getting a nice Halloween themed overlay for the holiday.
Disneyland Paris will be getting a new resort, Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel, and the Disney Cruise Line is getting not just the two already announced new ships, but three new ships! Ever wondered what it’d be like to dine in outer space with a view of Earth? Well now you can find out! Coming soon to Epcot’s Future World will be an amazing new restaurant located directly next to Mission: SPACE.
The new dining experience will invite guests to dine while viewing the stars!
