Grab your chimichangas and pull up a seat because Deadpool is coming to the small screen in animated format and he’s found the perfect home!  FXX has ordered a 10-episode animated series featuring Marvel’s anti-hero from creators and
brothers Donald  & Stephen Glover.

The new show has been described by FX as an “animated adult action-comedy.”

The annoucement was made yesterday by the Presidents of Original Programming, FX Networks and FX Productions, Eric Schrier and Nick Grad, and Head of Marvel Television, Jeff Loeb.

“How much more fun could this be? Deadpool, Donald and FX – the perfect fit for the Merc with the Mouth!” added Jeph Loeb. “We’re thrilled that our relationship with FX that started with Legion continues with what is sure to be a groundbreaking show in adult animation.”

Donald Glover is no stranger to FX or the superhero genre. He is the creator of the Golden Globe Award-winning show Atlanta on FX, has voiced Miles Morales in  the Ultimate Spider-Man animated series, and will even be in the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming film this summer.

“Donald Glover is an incredibly gifted and versatile artist who’ll bring the untitled Marvel’s Deadpool series to life with the same intense, singular vision as his breakout hit Atlanta,” said Nick Grad, Presidents of Original Programming, FX Networks and FX Productions, in a statement. “With the success of Legion, we’re looking forward to again partnering with Marvel Television to create a series that is bold, striking and entirely original.”

Donald and his brother Stephen will be the series’ showrunners, writers, and executive producers.  Loeb and Jim Chort will serve as the show’s Executive Producers.

The new series has yet to be titled, but will be produced by Marvel Television.  No word if Ryan Reynolds, who portrayed the Merc with the Mouth in 2016’s film version, will voice the character and no cast has been announced.

Given the networks history of series such as Archer and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, the announcement of a Deadpool series comes as no surprise and should fit right at home. It is expected to air sometime in 2018.
