Syfy gave us our first look at their new series, Krypton, today with its brand new trailer and I have to say, its very intriguing.  When it was first announced, I wasn’t quite sure what to think, especially since it was being produced on Syfy.  But, while DC’s films tend to be inconsistent, we can’t deny their shows are generally on the strong side.  Check out the trailer below.

The Krypton series will be a prequel series, of course, and follow Superman’s grandfather Seg-El and the House of El when it has been ostracized and shamed.  As the show progresses, he will fight to redeem his family’s honor while saving his beloved world from chaos.  The Seg-El name is both a nod to Superman co-creator Jerry Siegel and a reference to John Byrne’s 1980s miniseries, “The World of Krypton.”

Seg-El will be played by Cameron Cuffe.  The cast also includes Georgina Campbell (King Arthur: Legend of the Sword) as Lyta Zod, part of Krypton’s military caste and daughter of General Alura Zod. Seg-El and Lyta Zod are in the midst of a secret, forbidden relationship.

Krypton will be executive produced by David S. Goyer (Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, The Dark Knight trilogy) through his Phantom Four banner. Damian Kindler (Sleepy Hollow) will serve as executive producer/show runner; Colm McCarthy (She Who Brings Gifts, Peaky Blinders) is set to direct and co-executive produce the pilot.  The pilot teleplay and story is written by David S. Goyer & Ian Goldberg (Once Upon a Time, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles). Krypton will be produced by Warner Horizon Television and is based on characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, published by DC Comics.
